A locket or Taweez is a type of charm that is used for protection. It is an amulet or locket that usually contains verses from Hindu prayers and symbols. The Taweez is worn by Hindus and people of other religions too, to protect them from evil and fulfill their desired wish.

When filled with mantras obtained from puja rituals and ceremonies, they show celestial properties.

These charms are often tied on the arm or hung around the neck.
